Baby boomers to hold class reunion

Grads from 50 years ago get together June 10 and 11

If you graduated from Virden Collegiate in 1971 or 1972, VCI class reunions will be the ideal time to catch up on the memories and make some new memories. Because of Covid restrictions this year's grad reunion features two years combined, the graduates of 1971 and 1972.
Two days of organized activity, days, Friday and Saturday, includes golfing and a town walking tour as well as free time at the Legion, golfing and an organized meal together at Wellview Golf Club.
Bruce Murdock, one of the organizers, says “These two classes were likely peak grad years for Baby Boomers.”
Each class exceeded 130 grads, which also included students from surrounding farming communities
“We all grew up in a vibrant booming oil and farming community of the 1950s and 1960s with large families so we had no shortage of friendly peers!
“To this day, it is nearly unanimous among this group that we grew up remarkably privileged in Virden and the surrounding communities.
“In high school, the late Alf Brooks and many other excellent dedicated teachers loomed large as great influences to all of us.
Grads will meet and greet on Friday evening June 10th at the Legion.  Saturday features a walking tour of the town, a round of golf at the Virden golf course, then a dinner for grads in the evening.
