Fundraising continues online through GoFundMe and at Virden banks to help Alicia Hoemsen replace her residence near Elkhorn that was ravaged by fire in November.

. A cleanup crew of 11 worked at the yard last Saturday, including Kelly Copp’s family and others from the Winnipeg area. However, a Virden company has done the heavy lifting, tidying up the charred building: “MP Excavation Ltd., graciously donated their equipment and time,” says Copp, and adds, “Many of the missing pets’ remains were found and identified. Those that were not found could still be in the area and we are humbly requesting neighbouring property owners to please let someone know if they see any cats unknown to them." A poster of their pictures has been made and can be found on Hoemsen’s Facebook.
