Counselling service moves to new Oak Lake location

The town of Oak Lake has a couselling service and their new adress is 204 Aspen Street West.

“We moved into our new space located at 204 Aspen Street West in Oak Lake on November 1st of this year,” says Teague Luhr, communications coordinator for Home Counselling and Wellness.

Luhr says the building they are in was once a telephone office, insurance office and the “Cozy Corner.” He states they have taken every opportunity to transform this space into a modern, welcoming environment for healing.

“Our co-owner and provider has had a lifelong connection to the Oak Lake community,” says Luhr. “This is where she grew up, attended school and spent time with her family.”

Catherine Arnold understands the importance of community and supporting those who are vulnerable or need assistance.

“Working closely with the building owners, we have created a children and youth space for programming, services and play.”

Luhr adds their specialized team provides services such as:

  • Individual Counselling
  • Child and Youth Counselling
  • Therapeutic Play Services
  • Reiki Services

They also provide occasional after-school and day programs for children and youth.

“We have specialized therapies and services that include support for eating disorders, gender dysphoria, LGBTQIA2S+, accelerated emotional release therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy and hypnotherapy,” adds Luhr.

Four providers work out of the Oak Lake office. Aaron Kimberley, Catherine Arnold, Tracy Bates-Wark, and Melissa Hart specialize in these therapeutic services.

Luhr maintains their goal at Home Counselling and Wellness is to make a positive impact on people’s lives, one visit at a time. No problem is too big or too small to start accessing support.

“In addition, we also offer virtual and telehealth services to anyone seeking support from across Canada.”

He states they are proud to be an ally for mental health in the community. Home Counselling and Wellness also provides contracted services to various Manitoba communities including Rivers, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation, and more.

Their office hours in Oak Lake are Monday to Friday by appointment only.
