The beloved rural bonspiels held recently at Kenton and then at Lenore saw curlers happy to be back to the rink for the on-ice competition and enjoying socializing over the ever-popular suppers served by local volunteers. The meals have such a reputation that even non-curlers attend just for the supper.

Kenton Open Bonspiel took place over Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25 – 28 with 15 rinks participating. Organizer Don Carter said, “This is the first bonspiel after Covid.” The draw usually included about 20 rinks. So the numbers were down but the organizers worked out the draws and the bonspiel was a success.
