This gigantic library fundraiser book sale is a win-win event.

Virden Branch of Border Regional Library’s Gigantic Book Sale is a chance for people to connect with Virden’s library service and it’s a great way for the public to refresh their supply of books. The library refines its book supply, taking rarely read or damaged books off the shelf to be sold, along with the countless boxes contributed by public donations.

The sorting and collection began some weeks prior. Library administrator Treasure Sparks said the library staff and “several amazing volunteers” prepared the book tables where about 1500 books were sold.

This annual fundraiser was held June 1-3 where a wide variety of titles were offered at a very small cost.

Valleyview Co-op supplied the barbecue, fuel, and two volunteers for the barbecue. Some 120 burgers and 70 hot dogs were sold.

In all, about $2700 was raised. This annual fundraiser supports operating costs for Virden library, to help continue their service to the community.
