Margaret Gies and her dog Katie are waiting for Dale Gies to emerge from Virden’s Valleyview Co-op grocery store. Under current COVID protocol, only one per family can shop at a time. The Birtle family had business in Virden and included a trip to the store. Katie, part Shepherd, is not a young dog but she is a good dog, says Gies. The family rescued Katie from the Brandon Humane Society as a mature dog about ten years ago and she has been their companion ever since.
