While co-hosting the 18U AA baseball provincials, the Reston nine had a strong showing.

In pool play, Reston lost to Altona, 18-8, and beat Kenora, 9-5. In the playoff round, it fell to Gladstone, 12-7.

“I enjoy working with this group a tremendous amount,” Reston coach John Patmore said. “It is the majority of our high school baseball team, and they are a very athletic group. There are a lot of great multi-sport athletes and that shows in how versatile they are on the baseball diamond.”

Boissevain and Reston co-hosted the provincial championships. Boissevain went on to beat Portage to win the provincial title.

The Reston team was well supported while playing at home.

“The provincials matched up well with our fair in town, and lots of the athletes said they had never played in front of that many people before,” Patmore said. “Even people just stopping by for the fair would stop by and check out the action. The event ran smoothly, and everyone involved should be proud of how they represented Reston.”
