Fights, theft and accidents keep RCMP busy

For the week of Nov. 28th to Dec. 4th, the Westman RCMP dealt with 56 police occurrences.

Nov. 29 – RCMP were called to a theft that occurred overnight in Virden. It was reported that a small amount of change was stolen from a vehicle. The windshield was also damaged. The investigation is ongoing.

Nov. 29 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for a report of an assault. Police attended and spoke with three intoxicated people. When Police spoke with the complainant, it was learned that no assault occurred, however, someone was talking smack.

Nov. 30 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for Mischief. It was reported that a window had been smashed at a residence. When police arrived, it was learned that the caller had left the residence. Attempts to follow up with the complainant were unsuccessful and she didn’t return our phone calls.

Dec. 1 – RCMP were called to Sioux Valley for a vehicle overturned in the ditch. Upon attending, no occupants were located. Police learned that an injured male had been at a residence near the collision earlier that morning claiming that he had been assaulted. The investigation is ongoing.

Dec. 1 – RCMP were called to a residence in Sioux Valley for an assault involving a machete. When police and EMS attended, the victim would not cooperate with the police. He also refused any medical assistance.

Dec. 1 – RCMP were called to a residence in Sioux Valley for an injured male. Police later learned that the male fell out of a two-story window. He was transported to the hospital due to sustaining a head injury.

Dec. 4 – RCMP were called to a fight at a licensed establishment in Virden. Upon attending, police learned that a 23-year-old male had sustained a head injury. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The male was subsequently medically cleared. Police continue to investigate.

Westman RCMP also responded to the following:

  • Four Traffic collisions (2 involving deer)
  • Five disturbance calls
  • Three wellbeing checks
  • Four calls under the Mental Health Act
