Virden Wellview Golf Course board member Robin Rampton (left) accepts a cheque on behalf of the golf course for $10,000 from Russell (Huck) and Dorothy Smith (new clubhouse in background). The donation will go towards the construction of the new clubhouse. Dorothy Smith noted that they are very happy to make the donation as they have both enjoyed the golf course for many years. In fact, four generations of the Smith family have enjoyed Wellview Golf Course. Huck said, “I golfed here until I was 92 years old. And now my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (ages 6 – 10) have golfed here.” With their families living here in Virden, the Smiths felt it is only fitting to make this donation. “My only wish is to see it completed and that we will be able to go and enjoy a meal or a coffee,” says Dorothy.
