Goblins roam the streets

Good weather yields good turnout

At 5:00 p.m. on Monday in Elkhorn, the village streets were alive with all kinds of spooky people, colourful costumed superheroes and even some parents in disguises. It's Halloween and the weather is perfect. I say perfect, since there’s been years with snow. I’ll not forget the sites of Halloween costumes over snow suits!

Children, some with parents in tow, ran along the streets and up to doorways.

The biggest group met near the school to form a trick and treat parade past the two senior complexes in the village. At each location, the residents watched out the windows or doorways as treats were handed out by staff and volunteers - the residents hoping to see a grand or great-grandchild!

On the grounds of the Elkwood Manor kids got a double helping of treats, one from the Manor and another, from a shopping bag with a variety of treats handed out by the Elkhorn Elks, a practice that when Covid hit.

Those who donated through the Elks were supplied with a sign for their property saying that they had given to the Elks’ cause.

At the village fire station, fire trucks were out with flashing lights and members giving out treats.

As of this writing there were no reports of undue mischief and community groups were happy with the turnout.
