UPDATE 2: Gypsumville RCMP respond to shooting in Pinaymootang First Nation

He remains in custody on a charge of Second-Degree Murder.

UPDATE: A man is charged with second-degree murder. 

On Feb. 15, 18-year-old Dredynn Kenneth Ducharme of Grand Rapids was charged with 2nd Degree Murder, in relation to the homicide of a 23-year-old male that occurred in Pinaymootang First Nation on Feb.12, 2024.

It was approximately 11:50 PM on Feb. 12, when Gypsumville RCMP was called to a shooting in Pinaymootang First Nation. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 23-year-old man outside of a residence. Officers provided first-aid, including CPR, but he was later pronounced deceased on scene. 

RCMP Major Crime Services, along with Gypsumville and Ashern RCMP, and RCMP Forensic Identification Services did the investigation.

Pinaymootang First Nation near the Fairford Dam is about a 3-hour drive north of Winnipeg on Hwy 6.
