Help Virden Area Foundation support worthy causes

Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge Nov. 13-19 is the window to give - your gift goes further!

On Grant Night, the Virden Health Auxiliary receives a donation from the Virden Area Foundation.

Now is the opportune time to help our community flourish forever. During Nov. 13 – 19, you can help Virden Area Foundation (VAF) prepare to help community groups and projects.

Every gift made to VAF during the Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge will be added to by The Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba government. For example, if you donate $5, the Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba Government each kick in $2 so your $5 donation becomes $9.

Over the course of the Giving Challenge week Virden Area Foundation (VAF) could receive up to an additional $4,000. Only gifts made between 12:01 a.m., Monday, Nov. 13, and 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19 will be eligible for this.

Gifts can be made securely online at endowMB.org to Virden Area Foundation, or contact Pam McLeod (see advertisement), she’s willing to pick up your donation.

Look around you. The quality of life in our community is supported by VAF donations. The Virden Skate Park, the spray park, and the community sports complex have all been VAF donation recipients over the years.

Virden now has a dog park thanks in part to VAF’s Grant Night which takes place every year. Walking trails, 4-H groups, all these and more have been recipients of donations.

A wide variety of worthy causes – from daycares to seniors’ homes, scholarships to school improvements, food banks to fitness, and much, much more are eligible to apply to VAF for a grant.

Community foundations permanently invest all gifts. The income earned is used to support projects within the foundation’s designated area. The original contributions are never spent, ensuring a lasting legacy for donors and a permanent source of support for the community.

Canada’s community foundation movement started in 1921 with the establishment of The Winnipeg Foundation. Today there are 56 community foundations in our province – more than a quarter of Canada’s total. These foundations are part of Manitoba’s history of generosity, a tradition in which we can all participate and take pride.

Nov. 13 – 19 is a great time to invest in the future of Virden town and area. No gift is too small. Donations up to $10,000 to Virden Area Foundation will be matched with Winnipeg Foundation and Manitoba Government funds to stretch your donations. Visit endowMB.org to learn more.
