Ina Forrest looking for third gold medal in wheelchair curling

Ina Forrest, originally from Fort St. John, is seeking her third gold medal at the 2018 Winer Paralympics in Wheelchair Curling.

Ina Forrest, who was born and raised in Fort St. John and is now based out of Vernon, is in PyeongChang for the 2018 Winter Paralympics. She is representing Team Canada in Mixed Wheelchair Curling, as third, looking to win her third straight Olympic gold medal.

Canada won its first three games, but lost both of its draws on Monday. On Tuesday, Forrest and team rebounded to win two more, and had a record of 5-2 as of press time. There were four more games in the round robin for Canada, with the playoffs starting Friday. The medal games are on Saturday.

Forrest, now 55, didn’t begin wheelchair curling until she was 42. She has been very successful in the last eight years, and was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in 2016.

Forrest was paralyzed when she was 21, after being hit by a drunk driver.
