Virden’s Legion Ladies Auxiliary made a $2000 donation to the Wallace District Fire Department this week. This lump sum plus the proceeds from Turkey Bingo in December means the fire department can purchase training two human-like training dummies.

Fire chief Tyson Van Eaton explains, “They are high-heat dummies, so they can go in our burn training building. They won’t melt. They are soft join models, they won’t pinch hands when you are carrying them out of buildings or on ladders.” At 180 pounds the fire chief says, they’re realistic weight dummies.
