Little Buckaroos draw a crowd

A grandparent says thank you to sponsors and organizers who made this event possible.

Manitoba High School Rodeo Association ran a rodeo on the Sept. 16 weekend where these 36 Little Buckaroos participated. They are divided into two age groups between Kindergarten to Gr. 4.

Dear Editor,

On behalf of all grandparents, and parents, I would like to say thank you to the folks who have organized and sponsored the Little Buckaroos rodeo in conjunction with the Oak Lake High School rodeo on Saturday, September 16.

The event is for the children from kindergarten through grade four, to allow the kids to compete in rodeo events before they are eligible for junior high school rodeo. There were over 35 excited Little Buckaroos from all over Manitoba and part of Saskatchewan, eager to get involved in the sport of rodeo.

The stands were full of grandparents, parents and friends cheering and encouraging Little Buckaroos onward. As the grandparents and friends of these children, we are bursting with pride and feel the excitement they portray. The kids learn to win sometimes, to lose sometimes, and to do it graciously. I hope that existing and potentially new fans and contestants will appreciate the benefits of this very worthwhile and fun activity. It is free of charge.

Thanks to the many sponsors who gave so generously to provide prizes for all the exuberant Little Buckaroos.

- Nora Gomph, Oak Lake
