The regular meeting of the Council of RM of Sifton,

In attendance, Reeve Cyril Druwe, Councillors Sigurdson, Davis, Wallace, Phillips, Gervais,  Roulette, Gabrielle, Cochran and Administrator Lon Turner.

Payment of general account and payroll of $140,580 was approved.

RM of Sifton agreed to pay for First Aid Training for Cody Denbow and Albert Logeot.

Oak Lake Resort Waste Transfer Site hours were set at Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.                                

Road weight restrictions were approved on signed gravel roads; 60 kg per 10 ml tire width per axle.

Nov. 8, 2018 is Tax Sale Auction date for properties in the arrears for 2016.

Andrew Lewis was appointed as Weed Inspector for 2018.

Budget

The 2018 Financial Plan will be presented April 19 2:00 p.m. in the Municipal Office.

RM of Sifton voted to provide $300 to the Central Rec Committee to offset the cost of hall rental of January 29.

Council voted to provide a grant of $1,256 to Virden Arts Mosaic.

Training/meetings expenses approved

Cody Denbow and Albert Logeot are authorized to enroll in the Wastewater Treatment 1 course in Winnipeg, May 28 - June 1. Carleigh Babiak was authroized to attend the Recreation Provincial Conference, February 28 - March 2, in Winnipeg. Larry Wallace and Clement Gervais are hereby authorized to attend the Municipal Weed Seminar, March 21, Carberry. Lon Turner, Julie Gibson, Nancy Buckley and Marina Enns are authorized to attend the 2018 Election Training Seminar in Brandon, March 21. Cyril Druwe and Lon Turner are authorized to attend the Mayors, Reeves & CAO’s meeting April 10, Brandon.

Council and CAO are authorized to attend the Municipal Officials Seminar and MTCML, April 11- 12, Brandon.

Turner and Gibson are authorized to attend the MMAA Conference, April 22 - 25, Winnipeg.

Other business

Council voted to renew the Oak Lake Aquifer Management Plan 2018 membership of $250.

The Belleview School Reunion Committee is planning a school reunion and cairn opening, August 4; the RM will provide a donation of $100 in 2018.

The RM will tender the conversion of lights in the Public Works building to LED lights; also the electrical hook up and transformer for the portable generator with the deadline for both submissions by April 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

Council voted to purchase mower extension for $7500 plus taxes, from Capital I.

The RM will install street lights in 2019 at Cherry Point Resort.

Grant-in-Aid funding will be requested from Manitoba Infrastructure for dust control at several town locations.

Approval was received for the North Railway Street (Cameron Street) LUD Asphalt Repair under the Municipal Road Improvement Program; tenders to be received by 5:00 p.m. April 20.

The RM will enter into a Road Maintenance agreement with Enbridge Pipelines.

The 9:00 a.m. meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
