Motorcycle Granny Hits the Road at 91

As Ann Randall of Brandon was approaching her 91st birthday recently, she had a special wish. She wanted to go for a motorcycle ride, not on the back of a motorcycle, but in a motorcycle side car.

Her granddaughter, Tammy Ramsey, a longtime motorcycle driver from Elkhorn, looked everywhere for a motorcycle side car rig and found one in her own back yard (figuratively speaking).

Arrangements were made and on Sunday, July 5, granny hit the road, complete with helmet and leather motorcycle jacket; cruising around Elkhorn and a short run on the TransCanada Highway.

Her bucket-list wish side car was a WWII replica German Army Afrika Korp BMW motorcycle driven by me, Ed James.

After a few loops around the village, and some main street photo ops, we were back home safe and sound.

Mrs. Randall said she loved the view from the side car, and only ate a few bugs, while on her ride.

Both she and her family were pleased with the adventure and I offered her a ride on the other replica military motorcycle next year, for her 92nd birthday. She’s thinking about it!
