On January 24, 2024, Michael Hanska, 29, was charged with Second Degree Murder in relation to the homicide of a man, 40, that occurred on Jan. 23, in Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation.
He was remanded into custody.
The attack took place on Jan. 23. It was approximately 8:45 pm, Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) responded to a report of an injured male at a residence located in Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the 40-year-old male, from Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation, who was pronounced deceased on scene.
The attack was considered a homicide and investigated as such. RCMP Major Crime Services were called to investigate along with MFNPS.
