Buckaroos and Barrels - Horsin’ Around in the Miniota Valley takes place just south of Miniota, first held in 2019 and the second time in 2022. On May 27, we held our third event with 110 participants ranging from our smallest Buckaroos at 2, to our adult Open Barrel Racers.
The beginning of the day was geared toward our up and coming cowboys and cowgirls. They participated in four events: musical tires, sack race, pole bending and barrel racing. Each participant received a prize bag of goodies and the top times in each age division were given a prize for pole bending and barrel racing.
During the afternoon, we had some of the top barrel racers from Manitoba and Saskatchewan compete for $10,000 in a 4D split. Times were tight, it came down to the last run of the day to decide who was going home with gas money.
Little Kitchen on the Prairie was onsite to keep our bellies full. An event like this could never happen without the generous support of our sponsors, community, parents and competitors!
