Phoenix Players Upcoming Stage Play

Arlene's Beauty World

Phoenix Players with a cast of 11 Virden and Oak Lake actors comes to the Virden Aud Theatre in early April, to entertain with a full length comedy.

In “Arlene’s Beauty World” by Seattle, WA college teacher/playwright Michael Soetaert, there’s a fruitcake bomber on the loose, a buffoon romantic, competing hair salons, wacky white-haired haired customers, an officious law enforcement officer, George Baker, as Detective Dirk Cannon, Geriatrics Division and his equally officious assistant, Monelle LeStrat as Constable O’Malley.

The action takes place in a 1960s’ beauty salon, owned by Janice (Jennifer Glendinning).

Patrons include Iris Munchinsky, Donna George, Suzanne Dunning, Dianne Burke and Maureen Senff. Taylor LeStrat morphs from a Beauty World senior customer to a younger version of herself.

Do any of these women know how to blow-up buildings? They all fall under suspicion when interrogated by the police.

Kelvon Smith as Maurice is trying to get what he feels is rightfully his, but Janice won’t cough up the goods.

So, who dunnit? Under Glendinning's direction, this cast will play out the drama to a hillarious ending.

The Phoenix Players play two nights and one afternoon, April 6 & 7.
