The distinctive, one-of-a-kind Tom's House of Pizza trailer, which has been used to serve charities for 28 years, was stolen Between Sept. 16 and 19 from the Okotoks location's parking lot.

Okotoks RCMP is investigating after the Tom’s House of Pizza trailer was reported stolen on Sept. 19.

The custom-built trailer, which houses a mobile pizzeria, is believed to have been stolen from the Okotoks location of Tom’s House of Pizza between Sept. 16 and 19. Bearing the licence plate number 792474, the trailer is white in colour, with the restaurant’s logo emblazoned in red on the sides.

Tom’s House of Pizza owner John Windle worries the trailer may be turned to scrap, but is hopeful the trailer will turn up because of how easily identified it is.

“Tell you the truth, there’s been so much support that maybe this person will realize what they’ve done and they’ll just park it at the side of the road and drive off somewhere,” said Windle, who’s been using the trailer for fundraising for 28 years.

The trailer has, Windle said, been used to help fundraise for the Okotoks Oilers in past years.

“It’s one of the ways that we give back to the community for people supporting us, and now that’s been taken away – we have to figure out what to do next.”

Windle recalls good memories with the trailer.

“When we were doing a Flames Alumni Tournament, I was having a very bad day driving, and it was the last hole,” he said. “All the guys were standing behind me and it happened to be the hole we had our trailer on so they were eating pizza and watching me. I hit the best drive of my day and I turn around and all the guys were bowing down to me eating pizza.”
