Pipestone Community Rink Updates

Things are coming alive in the Town of Pipestone as the community rink is in full swing with a variety of events taking place now and in the upcoming weeks.

R.M. of Pipestone councilor and rink board member, Randy Henuset is eager to bring forward a few interesting recreational activities set to fire up on the freshly maintained ice surface. Co-ed Rec Hockey and Youth Rec Hockey are some of the fun and exciting activities to sign up for this winter.

“Our Ice Time is available any time and we can have a limit of 25 people per Covid restrictions,” adds Henuset. “If there is a private booking the ice is not open to the public, so it would be best to call the rink before heading out to skate. We still have our 50/50 draw; meat draw and Wing Night every Wednesday evening and patrons are to show proof of vaccination on entering the rink.

“Along with a few volunteers, we all pitch in and take turns cleaning the ice surface after each event in preparation for the next upcoming activities to take place.”

The Pipestone Rink Café has made a few changes as well in preparation for the upcoming events and winter season.

“The board decided we couldn’t get anybody to lease the Cafe, so we decided to run it ourselves, and hired a few ladies to work for the rink board,” says Henuset. “When we had our meeting on Jan. 9, we also decided to make a few changes in the hours of operation. We made a decision to shorten the hours somewhat, however we are still open for lunch and supper meals and closed on Mondays.”

Chelsey Underwood and Candace Draper from Pipestone, and Misty Kohinski, Jamie LaPierre and Emma Ray from the Reston area are the teams that cook, serve and work together preparing meals at the Pipestone Rink Café.

In addition to the regular Menu, there is a Steak Pit for family and friends to come out and enjoy. The area is available by reservation only, and arrangements can be made anytime during the six days of business hours. The rink also has Rib Night every Saturday evening and an affordable Sunday night supper special. The Café is licensed, so you can enjoy a cold one while you enjoy a tasty meal hot off the grill.
