It's over a year away but the committee is making plans now.

Next summer the community of Pipestone will host a Homecoming 2025 on the weekend of July 11, 12 and 13. The committee has been meeting now for several months with the next meeting Tuesday, April 2 at the Community Hall. Many activities are being planned for the three-day event including entertainment on Friday evening followed by fireworks, a supper and dance on Saturday and a parade on Sunday.

This also is the annual Pipestone Fun Days weekend. It was the year 2000 since the last time Pipestone hosted such an event and excitement is growing as the Pipestone Homecoming 2025 Facebook page is seeing lots of activity.

One of the big projects underway in anticipation of the homecoming is rejuvenation of the current site of the Cenotaph Park formerly the site of the Pipestone Memorial Hall on Main Street. Plans are to make the site an attractive green space to continue to honor our community history and promote an outdoor place to gather for generations to come.

A well-attended public meeting was held Feb. 12 and from the interest shown, a steering committee was formed to begin the project. The committee has started grant applications for funding and are looking into other fundraising ideas.

The new park will give anyone interested a place to honor persons, family, or organizations from the community. Your support is needed to get this project started. Be a part of that spirit and pride this community is known for. If you live here, or once called Pipestone home, pay it forward, help turn this spot into an attractive outdoor meeting place to memorialize, celebrate and educate locals and visitors alike for years to come.

To be a part of this project both time and personal donations are welcome and tax receipts are available. For information email: [email protected] or phone: 204-854-2223
