RCMP dealt with 73 police activities

During the week of May 23 to May 29 the Westman RCMP dealt with 73 police activities at the following locations:

May 23 – Sioux Valley for a report of a domestic assault. Subsequent to investigation, a 29-year-old male was arrested for assault. He was released on a future Court date on the condition that he have no contact or communication with the victim.
 
May 24 – Sioux Valley for a report of a housefire. After investigation, a 46-year-old female was arrested for arson. The accused female was transported to the hospital for assessment. She was later released on a future Court date.
 
May 24 – RCMP received a report of 3 kayaks that were stolen from a property in Oak Lake. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information pertaining to this crime is encouraged to contact the Virden RCMP. An anonymous tip can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
 
May 24 – a residence in Sioux Valley for a report of a disturbance. After investigation, it was determined that an adult male and adult female were arguing over the custody of their child. It was also determined that the adult female committed an assault. She was arrested for two counts of assault, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. The adult male was also arrested for two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. The adult female was remanded into custody, the adult male was released.
 
May 27 – RCMP received a report of an identity fraud that occurred in Oak Lake. The victim sent information via text message including his social insurance number and banking information. The victim believed he was sending information to the Canada Revenue Agency. He later found out that several credit card applications were made in his name. We would like to remind the public that the CRA does not correspond via text message. If you are ever in doubt about your standing with the CRA, phone the CRA directly.
 
May 27 – Sioux Valley for a report of an intoxicated female threatening self-harm. She was located and transported to the hospital for further assistance.
 
May 28 – Sioux Valley for a report that a 40-year-old male had been assaulted with a glass bottle. While RCMP were on route, the victim refused medical attention and was aggressive towards EMS. Upon police arrival, the victim also refused to co-operate with police or explain what happened. The investigation is ongoing. 
 
Westman RCMP also responded to three false alarms, four breach of peace calls, four disturbance calls in public places, and ten 911 calls that were determined to not be an emergency. 13 traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
