RCMP investigate truck theft

From shoplifting to vehicle theft, RCMP officers were on the beat investigating crimes.

During the week of Feb. 7th to Feb. 13th, the Westman RCMP dealt with 45 police activities, and were dispatched to the following locations:

Feb. 8 – Virden for a report of shoplifting at a local business. The suspect left the store with upwards of $200 worth of merchandise. The shoplifter was subsequently arrested for theft.  She was released on a future Court date.

Feb. 10 – Pierson for a report of a truck theft. The owner found the truck stuck in the ditch approximately 100 yards from this residence. A burnt vehicle was also located in the RM of Two Borders that same morning. The two occurrences are believed to be related. The investigation is ongoing.

Feb. 10 – Sioux Valley for a report of a disturbance at a residence. After investigation, it was determined that an intoxicated 24-year-old male assaulted his parents. The male was arrested for assault and released on a future Court date on the condition he have no contact or communication with the victims.

Feb. 11 – Sioux Valley for a report of an intoxicated male who smashed a basement window. The suspect has been identified; the investigation is ongoing. 

RCMP also responded to seven false alarms, and three Mental Health Act related calls. Nine Traffic enforcement actions were undertaken during this reporting period.
