Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner reported 70 calls for duty between July 21 and July 27. Forty-six of the files were under the highway traffic act. During the week long period there were 3 false alarms.
July 21
• Police received a call from a complainant who stated that someone was trying to take money from their account. No money was transferred .
• Police received a report of a single vehicle rollover police attended, there were no injuries.
• Complaint of someone posting thing on social media that weren’t true. Matter is not criminal in nature.
July 22
• Call received of an alarm to a business in Oak Lake. Police attended, alarm was false.
• Complainant phoned the police to advise that they had found three bikes who had been stolen from friends of the complainant. The bikes were returned to the owners.
• Received a complaint of mischief, while away the complainant had their solar lights stolen and above ground pool punctured.
July 23
• While on patrol, officers approached a male who then ran away. Police were able to catch up to him. Turned out the youth was on conditions of a curfew and was arrested for breaching his undertaking; they were later released before a justice. • Police attended a report of a two vehicle collision on the intersection of Highway 83 and PR 257. There were no injuries. One driver was charged for proceeding when unsafe to do so.
July 24
• Police received a complaint of a domestic dispute through 911. Upon attending police located a fire arm in plain view. Neither party had a license so the firearm was seized, investigation is still ongoing.
• Vehicle pulled over for speeding. Officer noted the scent of marijuana in the vehicle. The driver was charged with possession and had his license suspended for 24 hours.
July 25
• A vehicle was stopped in the RM of Sifton the driver was found intoxicated. The driver was arrested and brought to the Virden Detachment. Driver was released to appear in court.
• Police received a report of an erratic driver on TransCanada Highway. Police located the vehicle and stopped it. The driver was found impaired and was brought back to the Virden Detachment for a breath test. The test failed and they were charged with impaired driving. Released to appear in court.
July 26
• Police stopped an erratic driver found they were impaired. He failed the breath test, and was released for a later court date. • Received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Highway 2 in the RM of Sifton. Police attended and the driver stated he had hit the shoulder and over corrected. No one was injured.
• Alarm at a business in Oak Lake, police attended. Found two doors opened but the building was cleared. Appeared to be a false alarm.
July 27
• Police received a complaint of a vehicle that had gone across the median facing traffic on TransCanada Highway no injuries and the vehicle was towed.
