RCMP Report - March 18, 2016

Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner reported 37 calls for service between March 8 and March 14. Three false alarms and three traffic tickets occurred during this time frame. March 8 Called to a wellbeing check in Virden.

Staff Sergeant Steve Sumner reported 37 calls for service between March 8 and March 14. Three false alarms and three traffic tickets occurred during this time frame.

March 8

Called to a wellbeing check in Virden. Police arrived and upon forcing the door open found a female deceased in Virden. There was nothing suspicious; it was a natural cause of death.

Police were called to the scene of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver was found to be impaired and was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was brought to the detachment for a breath test. She had three warrants for her arrest and was held in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre.

March 9

An alarm at a commercial building in Oak Lake. The alarm was found to be false.

March 10

Police received a report that a phone and jacket were taken. The items were later found and returned to the person.

March 11

A driver reported that there was a possible impaired driver on the TransCanada Highway. The police were en route when the vehicle hit the ditch. Police attended and arrested a male for impaired driving. He was taken to Virden detachment for a breath test and later lodged in a cell until sober.

March 12

Police received a report of a male banging on a door. Patrols were made and the subject was gone upon arrival. •. Police were called to the scene of a vehicle fire in RM of Sifton. The fire department attended and put the fire out.

An alarm to a business in Virden. The police attended and cleared the building. It appeared to be false.

An off-duty RCMP member called to report a possible impaired driver. The police attended and pulled over the vehicle. The driver was completely sober, however, had fixed his lights and had been worried about the operation of them. He was sent on his way.
