Starting Wednesday morning July 29, Manitoba Hydro began advising the public of small, 30-minute power outages. These outages were to occur along the TransCanada Highway from Portage la Prairie and Deleau, until July 30. Manitoba Hydro tweeted, “Large building being moved July 29, Hwy 1 from Portage to Deleau Area, customers can expect 30 minute outages.”

With a 28 foot house being moved slowly down the highway, Manitoba hydro expected to lift hydro lines to make this move possible.

Scott Powell, Manager of Public Affairs, stated “The power outages are necessary to allow workers to safely lift power lines to allow a tall ready-to- move home passage on the TransCanada Highway.”

Although, the move is not being done by Manitoba Hydro, they assist, and ready to lift lines.

These outages were to affect communities all the way from Portage to Deleau on the TransCanada Highway.
