Step inside StillWater Adventures at 269 King St. E. in Virden for a shopping experience that awakens the camper within.
If ever there was an ideal time to drop over to this Virden outdoor equipment store, it’s right now, with summer on our doorstep and Fathers’ Day approaching.
Proprietors Bryce Galbraith and Cory Heaman are avid campers and fishermen. These outdoorsmen have brought the latest, safest, easiest, sturdiest models of camping, fishing and paddling equipment to StillWater Adventures. You’ll find state of the art equipment here.
“Our Kayaks are unique,” says Bryce. StillWater stocks and sells the new Bonafide Kayak. “We’re the fourth dealer in Canada, so these are rare named brands.”
NuCanoe is another new brand found in the Virden store.  Even the family dog will feel safe in this unique model.
“They’re known to be extremely stable, which is what a lot of people are upgrading to these days. They’re a high-quality product, designed to be stood on and fished off of,” says Bryce.
Cory adds, “They’re built for long days. People tournament fish out of them. Heavy rigging, trolling motors, power poles, anchors, everything, you can do a lot of different things with NuCanoe and that’s what we found was really unique.”
Tents are another key element for summer and with the price of gas, an affordable option for weekend adventures. “We carry a very unique line of tents called Gazelle Tents. They’re a really well built, quality investment. Very easy to set up - 90 seconds from bag to erected,” says Bryce.
The partners saw their home town of Virden, at the crossroads of Highway 83 and the TransCanada, as an opportune location for StillWater Adventures. Lake of the Prairies and Oak Lake, are nearby resorts. In turn, this specialty shop is a welcome addition to Virden shopping.
“In the last few years, everybody has moved to outdoor activities. We saw the reach that we could potentially have in town here. Paddle sports and fishing has really been our focus, and some of the camping gear. These are things that Cory and I are passionate about.”
While a tent purchase might be beyond your Fathers’ Day gift-giving budget, StillWater has an array of outdoors gadgets including personal items such as warm camping hoodies, and specialized eyewear, Rapala ProGuide Polarized Fishing Glasses.
Galbraith and Heaman continue to bring new stock to StillWater Adventures, along with new ideas such as an upcoming ‘paddle day’ where people can test drive their equipment. Watch for it!
