On Nov. 26, at approximately 9:00 pm, The Pas RCMP received a report of an agitated male inside St. Anthony’s Hospital in The Pas, Manitoba. The unknown male suspect had a weapon and was forcibly holding a hospital employee against their will. Officers attended immediately. The suspect fled, and officers pursued the male on foot out of the hospital.

Keewatin Lachose, 21, from The Pas, was quickly apprehended by RCMP and taken into custody without incident. The weapon was seized, and a stolen ID pass and key to the narcotics room were found in the suspect’s possession.

The 17-year-old male victim was not physically injured.

Initial investigation has determined that Lachose held the victim in order to gain access to secure rooms in the hospital. While a lot of damage was done to those secure rooms, nothing was taken.

Lachose is charged with:

·         Resisting/Obstructing Peace Officer

·         Assault with a Weapon

·         Break and Enter with Intent

·         Robbery with Other Offensive Weapon

·         Uttering Threats Against a Person

·         Carrying Concealed Weapon

·         Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

·         Forcible Confinement

·         Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

·         Mischief

Lachose was found to be wanted on unrelated warrants for Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He is remanded in custody. The investigation is continuing.
