The supply of illicit drugs to a remote northern community was interrupted.
On August 25, 2023, at approximately 8:20 a.m., The Pas RCMP responded to the Grace Lake Airport for a report of a package containing drugs.
The investigation has determined that a male dropped off a package destined for Pukatawagan, at the airport. The package was inspected by employees and found to contain approximately 1400 prescription pills and 770 grams of illicit cannabis.
Michael Rushnell, 36, from Surrey, B.C., was arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was also charged with Distribute Illicit Cannabis and Distribute over 30 g of dried Cannabis under the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act.
He was released from custody on a release order and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 15, 2023, in The Pas.
