They were there to help!

The Elkhorn Elks Club recognizes citizenship in Elkhorn.

The pandemic has done so much to change the world. However, throughout these years there have been thousands of front-line essential workers, who have done so much to battle against Covid.

This group of individuals includes the many medical people, but also the many other essential workers and volunteers who helped in so many ways, some without payment or recognition.

For this reason, the Elkhorn Elks #381 and Elkhorn's Twin Valley Co-op Food store, held their second annual, Essential Workers Lunch. The meal was held at the Elk's Hall where tables were set up for dining and visiting and spaced apart to allow for Covid health precautions. Many of the members of the Elkhorn Elks were on hand to help.

The lunchtime visitors were of all ages. When it came time for dessert, free ice cream cups were handed out by the co-op food store staff.

The Elks were even ready to help front-line workers from the community senior homes with pick up meals for workers who could not leave their posts, such as the Elkhorn Manor Senior unit.

Said Elks member Kevin Tutthill, "This was year two for us doing the Essential Workers Day lunch and the numbers this year were much smaller than last years’ drive-through lunch.  We were so happy to have Twin Valley Co-op back on board with us this year, they have been strong community supporters. We all appreciate the efforts of the many essential workers here in our area during the pandemic.”
