THHL playoff update: C-Hawks sweep Shamrocks

The Killarney Shamrocks came out scoring and played a strong game, but it wasn't enough. The C-Hawks answered their goals and took the lead.

The Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks have won their way into the Tiger Hills Hockey League finals.

The senior team beat the Killarney Shamrocks on Wednesday night, 5-2, to sweep the THHL West Division finals, 3-0. The C-Hawks are awaiting the outcome of the East Division finals. On Wednesday, the Gladstone Lakers beat the Minnedosa Bombers, 7-4, to keep their season alive. The Bombers had won the first two games of the series. The fourth contest is Saturday in Minnedosa with Gladstone hosting on Sunday if needed.

Defenceman Brad Cole scored two third period goals, including an empty net marker, to cap the C-Hawks’ scoring on Wednesday. Colin Paull, Taylor Sanheim, and Dillin Stonehouse had Miniota-Elkhorn’s other goals.  C-Hawks goalie Cory Gardham made 28 saves.
