Thompson RCMP looking for witnesses in attempt murder investigation

A crime in Thompson is under investigation and the police are seeking witnesses.

On July 13, 2022, at approximately 12:15 am, Thompson RCMP received a report of an assault occurring in an alley behind Churchill Drive in Thompson, Manitoba. Police attended immediately to find a male violently attacking a female. A male victim was also present at the scene.

When police arrived, the suspect fled, and a short foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest.

Investigation determined that the male suspect had first assaulted a 37-year-old male and then the 44-year-old female. Having witnessed the second assault in progress, police noted the extremely violent nature of the assault. Both victims received severe injuries and were transported to local hospital.

Jamie Captain, 18, from Thompson, is charged with Attempt Murder, Aggravated Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Resist a Peace Officer x 2, and Assault While Choking. Further charges may be pending. He remains in custody.
