UPDATE: Police search for man accused in homicide

A man accused of manslaughter may be in the Russell area, police say. There are two warrants out for the arrest of Robert Fleury.

Over two years ago, on August 14, 2019, 40-year-old Matthew Swain was found dead near Russell on Hwy 16.

On March 1, 2021, Robert Fleury was charged with manslaughter in relation to the homicide of Matthew Swain that day in August of 2019. Fleury was one of two men from the Gambler First Nation charged in connection with the fatal assault on the 40-year-old Swain.

Fleury was released from Brandon on May 21, 2021, but has breached his conditions and is wanted by RCMP.

Robert Fleury is described as 5’9” tall, 280 pounds, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered violent. If anyone sees Fleury, do not approach, but immediately call 911.
