2nd UPDATE: Virden RCMP arrest suspect from Sioux Valley assault

2nd Update

In answer to a Virden RCMP bulletin in the search for a suspect in an assault and confinement case, Seril Mazawasicuna has been arrested.

An earlier update stated: Two women from Sioux Valley were arrested on March 2nd in connection with the assault: Tanya Hunter, 34, and Whitney Mazawasicuna, 37, both from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, were remanded into custody on charges of Assault, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction.

The assault occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 24.  Virden RCMP received a report of an injured person, being held against their will by a male, on Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation.

The investigation led officers to a residence on Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation, where the victim was located but the male suspect fled prior to police arrival.

A Warrant of Arrest for Seril Mazawasicuna, 32, from Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation, was issued in relation to this incident. He faces 16 charges, including: Assault with a weapon, Forcible confinement, Pointing a firearm, Assault Causing bodily harm.
