Virden Variety Club 4-H-ers speak publicly

4-H is hard work and fun for the Virden Variety Club members.

Virden Variety 4H Club held its annual public speaking event at the local level. The event was held in the Victory Church lower auditorium on Feb. 13. Curtis Wolters, group leader, encouraged the speakers with a few quick tips and the speeches got underway. “Most will continue on to Area speeches in two weeks in Pipestone to compete again for who will get to Zones and then Provincials,” says Wolters.

Judges Heather Reimer and Dale Davison heard six speeches, two of which included a visual presentation.

The only Cloverbud member was Lexi Mills with her speech "Dogs". The Juniors were: Michael Cook with his speech "Fast Orange" (about hot cars), Lexie Wolters speech was "Paws of Thor" (her dog), Aubree Jeanes spoke with a visual named "Science Behind Slime" (creating malleable slime before the onlookers), Kyler Wolters speech named "Foam of a Kind" (detailing the use of spray foam insulation) and Landon Timchishen's visual, "Quartz" (information and a rock display).

The Virden Variety Club planned an evening of bowling in Brandon the following week at T-Bird bowling lanes.
