Miniota By Linda Clark
Our Miniota community extends 100th birthday greetings on May 30th to Dorothea Amy! A very happy birthday Dorothea. We hope you have a wonderful celebration.
Don and Sandra Armitage have welcomed a new grandson on May 15, Casey Davidson Keith, born to Kerilee and Dustin Fouillard at Melfort, Sask. Casey is also welcomed by his siblings Carter and Addison.  Congratulations to you all.
Linda Clark visited with Kevin, Julie, Reese and Carley Halipchuk in Ottawa. Highlights of the trip would be enjoying the RCMP Musical Ride in honor of Prince Charles and Camilla's visit to Canada, the beauty of the city with all the tulips in full bloom, along with all the grandchildren's activities.
From Farmlife:"Whether you're the tractor driver, maintenance man, gopher girl, fertilizer spreader, chauffeur, dinner maker, bookkeeper, fuel filler upper, clothes washer, sprayer applicator, or baby keeper-alive...You matter.  And don't you forget it!"
Mae Watters joined Allan and Linda Wotton in Birtle on Sunday afternoon May 22, where they hosted Mae's great-nephew, Donald and Vicki Gardham for a short visit.  Don and Vicki are moving from Kamloops BC to their new home in Nova Scotia.  Also joining them were Erin (Allan and Linda's daughter) and Adam Clayton, Dane and Jase of Brandon.  Donald is the grandson of Mae (nee Watters) Gardham who many will remember from her time in Arrow River and later married Frank Gardham.  They lived at Isabella prior to moving to Kamloops.  Mae Gardham was a sister to Francis Watters.  There were many good memories shared and plenty of 'catching up'.
Evergreen Place By Helen Martens
Hello everyone!  In a few days we'll say: Goodbye May. Thanks for the lessons you've taught us. Time to release and let go.Hello June. I'm ready for more happiness, good times, good vibes, good friends." I read this, I liked it and I copied it. Author unknown.
"June is the gateway to summer." That's a cheerful thought Jean Hersey gave us.
Harold and Lynda Spring drove to Rivers this weekend to visit Harold's mother. It was good to hear that in that area there were many farmers out in the field busy with spring seeding.
Vern and Margaret Rollo reported a similar thing. They went for a drive to Miniota to see what the water situation was like in the Assiniboine valley. What they saw was encouraging. Here too, many farmers were working their fields. It is so much later this year than last year, so this is good news.
Michael Campbell had the opportunity to get a ride to Brandon on Saturday , May 21, to go shopping. This time it was not for a doctor or treatment appointment. He said he had a successful shopping trip.
June 1st is right around the corner. I will mention only two important holiday observances. It is Neighbours Day on June 1 and I can think of several different ways to observe this day.
Another is Global Day of Parents, a day to show appreciation to all parents for their selfless commitment to children.
The Evergreen Place is one of many places in town to have a yard sale on Saturday, June. There will be books and puzzles and numerous other good buys here this day. We would love to see you so come and browse.
Victoria Day, our May long weekend, was very quiet. Once gardening begins it will be a'buzzin'. I think I have decided to plant green beans this year.
Happy June to all!
Quote for the Day: "Love the life you live. Live the life you love." Bob Marley
