Canadian Wrestling Elite tour is coming to Virden, with a star-studded lineup including the legendary Ron "Faarooq" Simmons - the only man on record to be inducted into both the college football Hall Of Fame and WWE Hall Of Fame.

Canadian Wrestling's Elite, professional wrestling's only North American touring brand outside of WWE,  celebrates its ninth anniversary with 25 events in 25 nights spanning five Canadian provinces.

This historic tour is both physically and metaphorically the largest tour in the company's history.

Headliner

CWE is honored to have this groundbreaking tour headlined by former World Champion and multiple time Hall of Fame inductee Ron Simmons

For the first time in his 30+ year career Simmons is on the tour. Working Special Forces duty with the tour, his decorated all-star career includes WWE and WCW in the professional wrestling world and the NFL and CFL in the football world.

As one of the greatest college football players, Simmons was an all-star player for Florida State before playing in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns and then with the CFL’s Ottawa Roughriders.

After a successful football career Simmons joined the world of professional wrestling and become a major player for World Championship Wrestling.

In 1992 Ron Simmons was an instant icon and became the first ever African American World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Vader.

When he finished up with WCW Simmons joined the World Wrestling Federation gaining fame as the leader of the infamous Nation of Domination which included being a personal mentor to the now megastar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

Then, Simmons formed one of the most popular tag teams of all time, the APA with Bradshaw and captured three WWF/E World Tag Team Championships.

Simmons, the WWE Hall Of Famer (2012), will be present for a meet and greet.

Tour includes

CWE's professional wrestling tour also includes CWE Champion and National Strongman Champion "Canadian Hercules" Tyler Colton, three-time CWE Champion and international Star "Hotshot" Danny Duggan, England's 6'10 Giant Charlie Winston, US Navy Seal Veteran Marcellus Prime, a special women's wrestling attraction match and so much more.

Winnipeg wrestler

Danny Duggan, a three-time CWE Champion based out of Winnipeg says, “I’m probably the most travelled wrestler within Canada at the moment. The 31-year-old has been wrestling for 16 years.

“I had my first match when I was 15-years-old. I always loved it. As soon as they put it on TV, I gravitated towards it and I haven’t left since.

Last tour Duggan was wrestling with a torn pectoral muscle and a torn bicep. Now healed, Duggan is keen on this tour.

Growing in Virden

“We’ve been coming to Virden on and off for our entire nine years, it’s one of our favourite stop.”

He adds, “Westman treats us very good.”

The CWE tour started off small in Virden, at the Legion. “We’re getting more people each and every time.”

The tour has outgrown that venue and this month, wrestling is in the collegiate gymnasium.

The cross-country tour is a Winnipeg-based company.

Duggan explains, “We started going on the road doing two, three, four, five-stop tours.”

Now with a 25-stop tour in five provinces, “we’re getting bigger and bigger and the people of Canada are supporting us in droves. So, it’s really cool to see all that hard work pay off from how small it started.”

Improving young talent

Headliner talent has been a big part of CWE’s growth, not just as superstar attractions. Duggan says, “With having their experience on the road with our young talent, they’re really molding them and getting them ready, because it’s into the big shows.”
