A season of growth for Golden Bears

You can see the Bears in action this Friday in Souris.

Virden Collegiate Golden Bears have had a growing season as most players are playing for their first time and others having a year off. We are a young team which should bode well for the future.

You can see the Bears in action this Friday in Souris.

Hi lights/stats

Offence:

Keagan Shiels has taken all of the snaps so far under center as our quarterback. He has completed 39 of 57 passes for 583 yards and 4 TDs. He has also rushed for 367 yards on 55 carries and 4 TDs. His favourite receivers are Colby Whittle with 11 catches, Lincoln Shiels with 9 and James Flannery with 6.

Defense:

The defense has spent a lot of time on the field and battles hard in the trenches. Leading the way with 50 tackles is AJ Webb. Chase Forsyth and Cohen Dryden have provided grit and speed in the secondary while Christian Lansing controls the defensive line.

As it stands, we will finish 4th in the prairie division and take on Moosomin in the semi final of the Murray Black Cup. Since the Generals are unable to play in Saskatchewan, the game will be played in Virden on Nov. 6.
