The Virden Oilers are six games into 2017 regular season and are sitting with a 3-3-0 record after Sunday’s 12-6 road win against the Reston Jay’s. The Oilers finished a three-game road span which also included; Wednesday, May 31 loss against Oak River Dodgers and Friday, June 2, earning a 3-2 win over the Hamiota Red Sox with strong pitching performance from Jeff Peel. Tanner Lewis also added the offense hitting a double and grabbing two RBI. The Oilers returned home Wednesday, June 7 against the Rivers Comets; followed by a double header in Virden Sunday, June 11 as the Oilers take on the Hartney Hoppers for the first game and the Deloraine Royals in the second of the day.

Oak River Dodgers are currently sitting in first place in the Southwest Baseball League, and the Reston Jays Virden Oilers and Rivers Comets are all tied for second place. The Oilers have proved to be better on the road with a 3-1 record and a 0-2 record at home. In six games played the Oilers have 37 runs for and 39 runs against.
