Last weekend, members of the Southwest Judo Club based in Virden competed at the Saskatchewan Open in Regina on Jan. 27 and 28.
Coach Mike Bergman said, “As a Sensei, I was very proud of our team; while some struggled, others had great success.”
Riley Jorgensen brought home some hardware, winning bronze in the Under Age 14, - 50 kg category. James Kreutzer came fourth in the under 16, - 46 kg category.
“Overall I saw great progress in their competitive skills. We look to Inner City in Winnipeg next weekend,” said Bergman. Six athletes from the club will be attending the inter-provincials in the city.
