Two more players added to Oil Caps roster

The Virden Oil Capitals added to their blue line by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League deadline yesterday Jan. 10. The club has reportedly acquired 19-year-old Jacob Evans from the Dauphin Kings.

The club has reportedly acquired 19-year-old Jacob Evans from the Dauphin Kings. Going the other way in the deal were forward/defenceman Brayden Pawluk, 19, and 15-year-old prospect Slade Stanick of the Yellowhead Chiefs midget AAA team.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Evans hails from Wausau, Wisc. He was in his second season with the Kings. This season Evans had four goals and 12 points in 39 games.

Pawluk was a second-year versatile role player for the Oil Capitals. The Teulon product had four goals and five points in 37 games.

A forward, Stanick has four goals and nine points in 28 games this season for the Chiefs. He hails from Rapid City.

WHL player acquired

The Virden Oil Capitals also added a young forward with Western Hockey League experience.

Yesterday, Jan. 10, the team traded a fifth-round pick in the 2019 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Draft to the Swan Valley Stampeders for Jesse Mistelbacher.

The 17-year-old was previously with the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Warriors have assigned the Ile Des Chenes product to the Oil Capitals.

He had an assist in 15 games this season with Moose Jaw. In 48 games with the Eastman Selects last season, Mistelbacher posted 15 goals and 47 points in 48 games.
