U of M women’s hockey win against U of R

Friday evening, Sept. 8 the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team was fast and persistent against the University of Regina Cougars, to win 2 to 1 at Virden’s Tundra Oil & Gas Place arena.

Friday evening, Sept. 8 the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s hockey team was fast and persistent against the University of Regina Cougars, to win 2 to 1 at Virden’s Tundra Oil & Gas Place arena. The exhibition game was a close game, with both teams having equal skill and determination.

Forward, Karissa Kirkup #41, originally from Virden, is in her fifth year playing for the Bisons. U of M Head Coach for the 2017-18 season is Jon Rempel; Assistan Coaches are Rob Voth, Lisa Peters, and Addie Miles. Gavin McHale is the goaltender coach.

Univeristy of Regina Cougars team –mates originally from Manitoba include: Mackenzie Hutchinson of Manitou, Jaycee Magwood of Killarney, Shaelyn Vollotton of Ninnetee, Chelsea Hallson of Starbuck, Emma Coulter of Hamiota, Sam Geekie of Strathclair, Kaitlyn Crowe of Deloraine, and Tamara McVannel of MacGregor.

Cougars Head Coach for this season is Sarah Hodges; Assistant Coaches are Julie Foster, Joell Fidller, Kelsie Graham, Terry O’Malley, and Colleen Sostorics. The goalie coach is Travis Harrington.

The Bisons’ next pre-season game will be in Regina of Sept. 22 against the SAIT Trojans.Virden local, Karissa Kirkup  #41, played forward for the University of Manitoba Bisons.
