“April Fools” or April blessing?

In a dry spring, any moisture is welcome

A Hamiota couple out for an afternoon stroll to get their mail on April 1, when asked "how's the weather?', respond, "it's tough pushing".

Like an April Fool’s joke, on April 1, southwest Manitoba has gone from streets running with water, bicyclists taking advantage of a summer-like 15 degree-day on Tuesday, March 31, to … snow, snow, snow.

However, Virden has had very little snow melt. With dry conditions throughout the southwest, this moisture is badly needed by the agricultural sector; spring planting is due to start later this month.

There was electricity in the air Tuesday evening as dark clouds rolled in.

Several days of snow are forecast for the Westman region with a low on Wednesday night of -11.
