The popular on-demand film streaming service hoopla digital is now available for free at Melita, Pierson and Napinka Libraries. Library members can access over 950,000 titles (audiobooks, eBooks, comics, music, movies and TV). Content can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the hoopla digital app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku.

hoopla digital has pioneered a unique model that allows patrons to borrow content immediately, removing artificial availability constraints and maximizing the power of digital content and Internet distribution. Technologically, hoopla digital focuses on the latest browser, phone, and tablet products to deliver the best possible experience to each user – the public library patron.

Librarian Mary-Anne Minshull says, “We are so excited to be able to bring this new digital service to our valued patrons. If this past year has taught us anything at the library, it is the importance of being able to access a full spectrum of quality digital materials, especially during those times when we are unable to access the public library’s physical collection.

“We have had one staff member try the hoopla service already, and it is user friendly, easy to navigate, and she has found the surprising return of an old love for comic books (graphic novels).

The hoopla digital collection includes fan favorite movies, newly released albums, New York Times bestselling titles and exclusive STEAM educational content to enhance each user’s experience.

“Never before have we been able to offer musical albums for patrons to borrow, and the sheer volume of what is available will nicely complement the Library’s existing physical collection of books, magazines, DVDs, audiobooks and puzzles.”

Minshull invites patron to stop by or call the Melita or Pierson Libraries to get more information on setting up a hoopla account, or to see a quick demonstration. Napinka Library patrons will need to inquire about an account through Melita or Pierson Libraries.

Those with a valid patron number at Melita or Pierson, can go to https://www.hoopladigital.com.au/ and set up their account. Click on “Get Started,” and follow the prompts from there. Choose the library – Melita or Pierson – where you have a membership. Create your own account.

Patrons can also download the hoopla app onto devices.

Don’t remember your patron number, or need to get one? Give the library a call.

The Southwestern Manitoba Regional Library acknowledges the support of the Kimberley Foundation in providing funding with the Pat Morris Communities Matter Library Support grant.
