The Royal Canadian Legion in Virden is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on Friday, Jan. 31.

There will be a presentation to the RCMP Commanding Officer at the Legion Club Room during the supper hour.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, Kelvon Smith has organized an I Love to Read event.

There will be readings for students and their parents starting at 9 a.m. Throughout the morning the stories, focusing on the RCMP, will continue with material suited to different age groups.

Every story will bring to life Royal Canadian Mounted Police history from the days of the North West Mounted Police, to the Royal North West Mounted Police, to the present day RCMP.

After a couple of stories are read, there will be a walk-about tour of the art work and photos in the Club Room.
