A well-established oil services company based in Kola has been acquired by new owners.

TSL Industries has been purchased by Vertex Resource Group of Sherwood Park, Alta. This is the first incursion into Manitoba by the environmental services company, which operates primarily in western Canada and has a few locations in the US.

Deon Walsh, VP Environmental Services at Vertex, says not much will change under the new ownership other than the name and some growth.

The company is advertising for at least six new employees to augment the existing TSL staff – they need operators of tank trucks, pressure trucks, hydrovacs and more.

Good fit

Walsh told the Virden Empire-Advance that Vertex felt TSL was a good fit for them.

“When we met with TSL’s owners, we just felt the culture aligned with ours…. They put the safety of employees and the organization in the forefront, as Vertex does.

“Both companies also value employee engagement; we welcome the opinions and involvement of our staff.”

As part of the purchase, Vertex has also acquired TSL’s branch office in Waskada. The company is looking to expand into new sectors beyond oil and gas: industrial cleaning services, agriculture, forestry, drilling, government, mining, and utilities.

Vertex was established in 1976 and has grown to about 750 employees across its locations.
