Lighting Up the Memory Tree in Virden

The night air was cold but the hot chocolate helped warm people up as they gathered for the lighting of the Memory Tree in downtown Virden last Thursday evening. Each bulb on the tree represents a loved one being fondly remembered.

Thursday Nov. 28 was Memory Tree Light Up night in Virden with carolers, cookies and hot chocolate to warm the frozen night air.

The night air was cold but the hot chocolate helped warm people up as they gathered for the lighting of the Memory Tree in downtown Virden last Thursday evening.

Each bulb on the tree represents a loved one being fondly remembered. Donations gathered for the Memory Tree go towards Virden cemetery improvements.

Erin Wooldridge and her eight-year-old daughter Luca (far right) joined the rest of the Christmas carolers who brought much-needed cheer to the blustery evening.

Andrew Agencies was also there, as is the tradition, providing hot chocolate and cookies and the use of their foyer to warm up in.
