Junior Livestock Weekend coming up in August is a celebration and showcase of Manitoba youth and agriculture.

A provincial cattle show is coming up in August designed specially to prepare young entrepreneurs for their future in the livestock industry.

 

Samantha Rimke of Virden is a past participant and one of the organizers. She explains, “This is a junior show that connects youth from all across the province and into Saskatchewan.”

The 12th Annual Manitoba Youth Beef Round-Up with be held Aug. 2-4 in Neepawa. It’s a three-day event that will bring together junior members, 4-Hers, and cattle enthusiasts from all across the province.

Youth from southwest Manitoba have attended in the past from Pipestone, Oak Lake, Lenore, Grande Clairiere and Stoney Creek 4-H Clubs.

Rimke says, “There are also multiple juniors in the surround area that are a part of their respective Manitoba Junior Breed Associations (Hereford, Limousin, Angus, Charolais, Simmental, Shorthorn, etc.) that attend this show.”

Prizes to be won include banners, buckles, blankets, towels, signs, show supplies.

This event will educate, encourage, stimulate and unite participants in the business of agriculture and the beef industry with a variety of competitions and events to match all interests and skill levels of participants.

With team grooming, individual and team judging, showmanship, impromptu speeches, art, photography, scrapbooking, as well as cattle conformation classes, there’s a class for every cattle-minded young person.
